Tales about Yale
By Phil Vigil
On November 1st, we got our fourth Guide Dog puppy named Yale. He is a four- month-old yellow Labrador and is the best Guide Dog we've had so far. He is very calm compared to my first and third dogs because he never barks or bites like other puppies, and he pretty much just sleeps all the time.
Yale has very good house manners. He never chews on furniture, rarely has "accidents," and never runs wildly through the house. His favorite activities include taking walks with our other two dogs, Buck and Monte, and playing tug-o'-war with his rope toy. Of course, his favorite activity is eating his dinner. We are currently teaching him "lie down" and not to pull on the leash. We have found that teaching a puppy in only one or two areas at a time helps him to learn more quickly and not to get confused.
